M7 Open Star Cluster

Messier 7, also designated NGC 6475 and sometimes known as the Ptolemy Cluster, is an open cluster of stars in the constellation of Scorpius. The cluster is easily detectable with the naked eye, close to the "stinger" of Scorpius.

Distances/Size

Distance to the object- 980 light years; angular size in the sky is about 80’ (minutes); diameter of the cluster – about 50 light years.

Equipment

Mount-Mathis MI-1000/1250; Scope- Planewave CDK24, 6100 mm aperture, 3962mm focal length; Camera- QHY600 M Pro, 0.62 arcsec/pixel.

Observatory

Telescope Live, El Sauce Observatory, Chile.
